The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys baseball teams made the trip north and west on Monday night, to face an early-season test in the Midgets of Estherville-Lincoln Central. ELC entered with a record of 4-0 and ranked #9 in Class 2A from the Lakes Conference.
The Midgets got on top early with Blake Evans scoring on a wild pitch for ELC to take a 1-0 lead. ELC would then tack on 2 more runs in the 2nd, with Carson Grange scoring on an error by Caden Hankins, followed by a Blake Ingvall RBI double to make it 3-0. The Cowboys would get a run back in the 3rd inning off a Cael Chase RBI single to cut the score to 3-1, but that’s all the closer CGD would get. ELC would add 2 more runs in the 3rd and the 4th, before a 4-run 5th allowed the Midgets to walk off an 11-1, 5 inning victory over the Cowboys.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, as they host Wright County rivals Eagle Grove at Hanson Park in Clarion, with first pitch slated for 7:30 PM.
