KQWC Radio learned Tuesday afternoon that South Hamilton head football coach Corey Klemp tendered his resignation to the South Hamilton School Board on Monday night pending a “suitable replacement” as the succeeding head coach.
Klemp steps down as head coach following a 6-year stint that included a 38-26 record, with 3 playoff appearances, a district title, as well as 7 all-state selections and the only undefeated, 9-0 season in school history in 2020.
Taking over a program in 2015 that had just two playoff appearances in the previous 10 years, Klemp went 1-7 in year one in Jewell, improved to 4-5 in 2016. By 2017, the Hawks were 8-2 and playoff qualifiers. South Hamilton would make the playoffs 3 more times in the next 5 years, cementing one of the most successful stretches in program history.
