The Webster City Lynx girls tennis team hosted the inaugural North Central Conference Tournament on Saturday at Webster City High School. The Lynx were joined by fellow NCC tennis programs from Iowa Falls-Alden, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Clear Lake and St. Edmond.
Webster City has shown all year that they were the team to beat in the NCC, and Saturday proved that proclamation. Joslin Gourley and Kayley Wibholm won the conference championship in the doubles, while the duo of Makaylee Draeger and Trinity Griffith placed runner-up in the doubles.
In the singles tournament Mackenzie Burney would place 3rd, losing to Iowa Falls-Alden’s Lauren Wood in her final match, while Jordyn Sullivan would place 4th, losing to Iowa Falls-Alden’s Elly Wood in her final match as every Webster City athlete made it to the semifinals, which quickly clinched them the first-ever North Central Conference Tournament title.
The Lynx return to action on Monday night, when they travel north to compete in a make-up meet with Clear Lake
