The Webster City Lynx girls tennis team hit the road on Thursday, to travel east and take on the Nevada Cubs from the Heart of Iowa Conference. The Cubs entered with a 2-3 record, while Webster City entered with a 7-2 record on the season.
The Lynx got after it from the get out, with Joslin Gourley and Mackenzie Burney easily deciding their matches. Kayley Wibholm had to work for an 8-4 decision over August Martinez, but Trinity Griffith answered with an 8-2 win over Paige Handsaker. Makaylee Draeger also grinded out an 8-4 decision over Meagan McGaffin, before Jordyn Sullivan took care of Allie Dittmer in an 8-1 decision.
In the doubles portion, Webster City dominated the first 3 positions with 8-1 decisions from the duos of Joslin Gourley and Kayley Wibholm, Mackenzie Burney and Makaylee Draeger, as well as Jordyn Sullivan and Trinity Griffith. The final two doubles saw the Lynx having to grind out wins, but did so to give Webster City an 11-0 win over the Cubs.
The Lady Lynx will be in action on Saturday, as they host the North Central Conference Tournament at Webster City High School.
