The Webster City Lynx boys golf teams welcomed in schools to Briggs Woods Golf Course on Thursday for the annual Briggs Woods Invitational. Teams in attendance included Ballard, Gilbert, Nevada, Iowa Falls-Alden, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Clear Lake.
The tournament was won by defending Class 3A Champion Gilbert Tigers, who shot a low team score of 289. The Tigers boasted the top 4 golfers with Sawyer Hansen, Brock Snyder, Joey Currans and champion Spencer Clatt, who won with a score of 68 (-4).
Webster City’s top performer was senior Beau Klaver, who shot an 80 (+8) on balmy, cloudy day at Briggs Woods. Garrett Arnold would shoot an 85 (+13) to have the second-best Lynx score, as Drew Schwering and Cael Nixon would tie for 12th with a score of 86 (+14). Devon Stoakes and Braden Doering would round out the Lynx lineup with scores of 90 (+18) and 91 (+19), respectively.
Webster City would finish runner-up in the tournament with a team score of 337. The Lynx will be back in action Saturday, when they compete in the Larry Clark Kuemper Invitational at Carroll Country Club.
