The Webster City Lynx and Roland-Story Norsemen boys track and field teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they competed at the North Polk Comet Relays at North Polk High School in Alleman. The Lynx and Norsemen were joined by the host Comets, Johnston, Carroll Kuemper, Dowling Catholic, Creston and Ballard.
In the field events, it was another sweep for Webster City’s JJ Moore in the throws, winning discus with a season-best throw of 155′ 2.25″ and winning shot put with a throw of 56′ 2.75″. Jaxon Cherry placed 2nd in the discus with a throw of 140′ and 5th in the shot put with a toss of 42′ 9.75″. Roland-Story’s Patrick Gonzales placed 3rd in the shot put with a season-best toss of 44′ 9.5″. Keegan Hisler would set a new PR in the high jump, clearing 6′ 0″ and placing 2nd, while Roland-Story’s Will Bunn placed 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 20′ 1″.
In the individual events, the highest area-placer was Webster City’s Jaxon Cherry, placing 2nd in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.31, while CJ Hisler placed 5th in a time of 11.68. Hisler would also placed 3rd in the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.25. Roland-Story would get a 5th place finish from Cade Diehl in the 400 meter dash in a time of 55.00, while Quin Ante placed 4th in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.77. Webster City’s Jose Ramirez would place 6th in the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:50.59.
In the relays, Roland-Story would sweep the sprint relays by winning the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 in times of 44.35, 1:31.90 and 3:32.76, the last two setting new season-bests for the Norsemen. Webster City would place 4th in the 4×100 in a time of 45.54, 5th in the 4×200 in a time of 1:36.99, and 7th in the 4×400 in a time of 3:53.65. Roland-Story would also place 2nd in the 4×800 in a time of 8:51.53, while Webster City placed 6th in 9:23.22. The Norsemen would also place 4th in the shuttle hurdle relay, distance and sprint medleys.
Roland-Story would place 4th with 76 points, while Webster City placed 5th with 73 points. North Polk was the meet champions with 174 points.
