Eagle Grove girls compete in Madrid Tiger Girls Invite

The Eagle Grove Eagles girls track team returned to action on Tuesday night, making the southward drive on Highway 17 down to Madrid to compete in the Madrid Tiger Girls Invite at Madrid High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Tigers, Earlham, Nevada, North Polk, Van Meter, Collins-Maxwell, Albia, Ogden, Carroll Kuemper, Bondurant-Farrar and Pleasantville.

In the field events, Eagle Grove got a 5th place finish in the shot put from Justine Olson, who had a best throw of 33′ 9.25″, Bondurant-Farrar’s Katelyn Lappe won the shot put with a throw of 42′ 2″. Addyson Jeske would place 6th in the long jump, with a best jump of 16′ 0.5″ as North Polk’s Tina Gehling won with a jump of 17′ 3″.

In the individual events, the Eagles Ayden Feske placed 4th in a 100 meter dash race that previewed 3 runners that will be competing in the Drake Relays, with Madrid’s Jillian Dodds and Ella Santi. Feske finished with a time of 13.39. Maddie Axtell would place 7th in the 3000 meter run for Eagle Grove, in a mark of 13:53.83.

In the relays, Eagle Grove would place 6th in the 4×100 in a time of 53.73, while also placing 8th in the 4×200 in a time of 2:01.32. The Eagles also put together a strong showing in the sprint medley, placing 4th in a time of 2:00.85.

Eagle Grove would place 11th out of the 12 teams in attendance, scoring 23 points. North Polk were the meet champions with 143 points.
