South Hamilton, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls compete at the Bronco Relays

The South Hamilton Hawks and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track teams made the trip to Belmond on Friday night, to compete at the Belmond-Klemme Girls Bronco Relays at Belmond-Klemme High School. Other schools in attendance included the host Broncos, West Hancock, Lake Mills and Hampton-Dumont-CAL.

South Hamilton and CGD would sweep the field events, with Mackenzy Grady winning the discus for the Hawks with a throw of 114′ 7″, and Grace Neuberger winning the high jump, clearing 5 feet. Kennedy Trca would win the long jump for CGD with a mark of 14′ 10.25″, while Mikayla Beisel placed 2nd in the high jump, also clearing 5 feet, but in more attempts than Grace Neuberger.

In individual events, South Hamilton took wins in the 100, 200 and the 1500, with Kate Barkema running the 100 in 13.46, Kelbe Krumm winning the 200 in 28.08, and Mercedes Beaune winning the 1500 in 6:08.82. McKenna Miller would place 2nd in the 1500 in a time of 6:16.85, while also finishing 3rd in the 800. Madison Beaune placed 2nd in the 800 in a time of 2:51.44. Jorja Fulk would place 2nd in the 200 for CGD in a time of 28.49, while Harley Charlson placed 4th in the 800 in a time of 2:52.77. Anna Lammers of South Hamilton placed 3rd in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:08.55. Kennedy Trca of CGD won the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 17.28, while Mikayla Beisel finished 3rd in a time of 18.25, South Hamilton’s Kenzie Henderson placed 5th in the 400 meter hurdles.

South Hamilton would dominate the relays winning the 4×100 in 53.02, 4×200 in 1:53.67, 4×400 in 4:38.04, 4×800 in 11:14.76, sprint medley in 1:57.15 and the distance medley in 4:58.23. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows won the shuttle hurdle relay in a time of 1:13.20, while the Cowgirls placed 2nd in the 4×200 in a time of 1:58.40.

South Hamilton was the meet champions with 115 points, while Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed 4th with 48 points.
