Area girls track teams compete in Lady Lynx Invitational

The Webster City Lynx girls track team hosted their annual Lady Lynx Invitational on Thursday night at Webster City High School. Area schools such as the Lynx, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Eagle Grove were joined by Clear Lake, Algona, Iowa Falls-Alden and Perry.

It was a clean sweep across all four field events for KQ-area schools as Eagle Grove’s Justine Olson won the shot put with a throw of 33′ 7″, and freshman Addyson Jeske won the long jump with a mark of 16′ 3.25″ Webster City senior Hannah Brandt won the discus with a throw of 104′ 7″, while Clarion-Goldfield-Dows freshman Mikayla Beisel won the high jump clearing 5′ 2″. CGD’s Kennedy Trca placed 2nd in the long jump, while the Lynx had Adeline Tesdahl and Bonnie Nohrenberg place 3rd and 4th. Webster City also had Adysen Poppen and Delaney Kopriva place 2nd and 4th in the shot put, while Eagle Grove’s Reese Ettinger placed 3rd in the discus.

In individual events, three athletes took home individual titles, as Eagle Grove’s Ayden Feske won the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.50. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows saw Kennedy Trca win the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.00, while Mikayla Beisel won the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:11.00. 2nd place finishers included Webster City’s Dasha Sankey in the 400 meter dash, CGD’s Mikayla Beisel in the 100 meter hurdles, and Webster City’s Adeline Tesdahl in the 400 meter hurdles.

In the relays, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows took home wins in the 4×200 and the shuttle hurdle relay, winning the 4×200 in a time of 1:54.70, and the shuttle hurdle in a time of 1:12.80. Runner-up finishes included Eagle Grove in the 4×100 and Webster City in the 4×400, Sprint Medley and Shuttle Hurdle Relay.

Clear Lake won the meet with 139 points, while Webster City placed 2nd with 94.5 points. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed 3rd with 78 points, and Eagle Grove placed 6th with 64 points.
