A Webster City woman this week submitted a written plea of not guility to drug charges filed against her. 42 year old Leah Rae Mulholland was arrested on March 31st by Webster City Police after an incident the day before. Mulholland has been charged with possession of a controlled substance first count and possession of a controlled substance-marijuana-first count. Both charges are serious misdemeanors. The date of June 16 has been set for a jury trial in Hamilton County District Court. Mulholland has been on probation after she pleaded guility to stealing from the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce where she served as administrative assistant prior to her arrest. In January,2022. Mulholland was given a 10 year suspended prison sentence, five years probation and a $1000 fine which was also suspended on a charge of first degree theft. On December 4,2020,Mulholland entered a guilty plea on the theft charge. Other charges including ongoing criminal conduct, influence enterprise,forgery and unauthorized use of credit cards over $1,500 and under $10,000 were dismissed in court. In February,2020 following a lengthy investigation, Mulholland was arrrested for the more than $239,586.23 in improper disbursements from the Webster City Chamber of Commerce. The state auditor’s office conducted an audit for the period of October 1,2013 through June 30,2018. In the audit released in July,2019, the audit found 367 checks issued to Mulholland totaling $236,313. Of those checks, 139 were payroll checks, four were bonuses and two were reimbursements. 222 were unauthorized checks ranging in amounts from $20 up to $2000. Auditors also found 846 debit card transactions with only 107 were properly supported by records from the chamber.
