The Webster City Lynx hosted their annual boys home track meet on Tuesday night at Webster City High School. While the weather was cloudy and chilly, the teams of Clear Lake, Pocahontas Area, South Hardin, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, St. Edmond and Eagle Grove, all arrived and competed,
The Lynx swept the throwing events courtesy of JJ Moore, who won the shot put with a throw of 56′ 4.5″, and won the discus with a throw of 150′ 1″. Jaxon Cherry finished 4th in the shot put with a throw of 41′ 1″, and 2nd in the discus, with a throw of 144′ 11″. Eagle Grove got a 3rd place finish from Peyton Larsen in the shot put, with a throw of 42′ 3.5″, while Jake Jeske placed 6th in the discus with a throw of 111′ 1″.
In the individual events, the lone area champion was Eagle Grove’s Blake Morgan, who won the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.27. Morgan would also place 3rd in the 400 meter dash in a time of 55.09. Jaxon Cherry and CJ Hisler of Webster City finished 3rd and 4th in the 100 meter dash, with times of 11.31 and 11.45 respectively. The Lynx would also get a runner up finish in the 1600 meter run from Jose Ramirez, who finished in a time of 5:00.
In the relays, Webster City won the boys 4×100 by nearly a full second, in a time of 44.86, which likely qualify them for the Drake Relays. The Lynx finished 2nd in the 4×200 in a time of 1:36.28, while Eagle Grove placed 4th in the 4×200 in a time of 1:38.74. The 4×400 saw Eagle Grove place 4th in a time of 3:44.57, while Webster City placed 8th in 3:48.73. The Lynx placed 5th in the 4×800 in a mark of 9:21.47, while Webster City and Eagle Grove finished 5th and 6th in the shuttle hurdle relay respectively. Eagle Grove would also place 3rd in the sprint medley in a time of 1:43.44.
Both Webster City and Eagle Grove are slated to return to action on Thursday night at Humboldt, for the final night of Drake Relays qualifying.
