Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track and field team saw their first outdoor action of the year on Tuesday night, as they made the short trip up to Belmond to compete in the Belmond-Klemme Bronco Boys Invitational. There, they were joined by the host Broncos, West Fork, Mason City Newman, Lake Mills, North Iowa and West Hancock.
In the field events, CGD’s Mason Allen won the discus with a throw of 152′ 9″, while Bryce Lindaman placed 6th with a throw of 97′ 11″. In the shot put, the Cowboys placed 6-7, with Nicholas Sisson placing 6th with a throw 38′ 7″, while Caden Hankins placed 7th with a throw of 37′ 9.75″. Nevan Foss placed 2nd in the high jump, clearing 5′ 10″, while Aiden Harrington tied for 4th, clearing 5′ 6″. Brandon Zigrang placed 6th in the long jump, with a mark of 16′ 4.5″.
In the individual events, the highest place a Cowboy runner achieved was 6th, as Christopher Greenfield finished 6th in the 3200 in a time of 12:56.19, Greenfield would also place 8th in the 1600 meter run in a time of 5:57.99. Brandon Zigrang would also place 6th in the 400 meter hurdles in a mark of 1:08.55, while Janosch Rosner would finish 7th in a time of 1:09.45. Diego Gonzalez would placed 7th in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.86.
The relays were where Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would do the most damage, as the Cowboys won the 4×100 in a time of 46.38, and the 4×200 in a time of 1:37.39. The Cowboys would finish 6th in the 4×800 in a mark of 11:03.09, while placing 2nd in the shuttle hurdle relay in a time of 1:07.62. The Cowboys would also place 2nd in the sprint medley, in a time of 1:44.30, while placing 6th in the distance medley, in a mark of 4:29.30.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 4th with 88.5 points, and will return to action on Thursday night at the Humboldt Boys Invitational.
