Webster City tennis sweeps Iowa Falls-Alden on Tuesday

The Webster City Lynx tennis teams took to the courts for the 2nd time in as many days, as they hosted the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden. The Iowa Falls-Alden girls entered with a 1-1 record, while the Iowa Falls-Alden boys also entered with a 1-1 record.

The day for the Webster City girls got off to a slow start, as Joslin Gourley was knocked off in the opening singles match of the day by IF-A’s Lauren Wood, by a score of 8-6. That would the only damage the Cadet girls would make on the day, as Webster City dominated the rest of the singles matches, capped off with an 8-0 win by Trinity Griffin over Dani Barr. The doubles then resulted in a clean sweep of 3 matches by the Lynx to secure an 8-1 victory and a 3-0 start for Webster City.

In the boys match, Webster City was searching for win #1 following their 6-3 loss to St. Edmond on Tuesday. The Lynx got off to a hot start in the singles matches, with Seth Nelson, Chase Black, Carter Koeppen and Jayden Wibholm all grabbing wins. The Cadets would storm back in the back end of the singles and doubles, but Webster City would hold off IF-A for a 5-4 victory.

The Webster City boys will return to action on Thursday against North Polk, while the girls will face Clear Lake next Monday.
