Webster City boys soccer falls in overtime to Humboldt

The Webster City boys soccer team hosted their North Central Conference opener on Monday night, as they faced off with conference rival Humboldt at Webster City High School. The Wildcats defeated Belmond-Klemme 8-0 in the season opener, while the Lynx fell to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in their season opener, 1-0.

The first half belonged to the Wildcats, who scored 2 goals in the first 40 minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Webster City would fight back in the 2nd half, as Eduardo Perez would get a goal to bring it within one, before junior Everardo Hernandez tied the game at 2-2 and sent the match to overtime.

In overtime, it was Humboldt that would have the final say, scoring the lone goal of the period and winning by a final of 3-2. Webster City drops to 0-2 on the season with the loss and will face Clear Lake on Thursday at Webster City High School.
