South Hamilton’s Busch has record-setting day at Boone Invitational

South Hamilton senior Austin Busch got some early week work in on Monday, as he performed at the Boone Invitational at Goeppinger Field in Boone.

Busch kicked off with the day with breaking the South Hamilton school record in the discuss, with a best throw of 167′ 8″. That mark is currently good for 4th-best in the entire state of Iowa, trailing Linn-Mar’s McKade Jelinek, Jesup’s Carson Lienau and Indianola’s Walker Whalen.

The Iowa track-commit then finished his day with the shotput, shattering the South Hamilton school record with a throw of 60′ 0.5″. The throw was good for 2nd-best in the state, behind LeMars senior Brandon VanderSluis, who has the high-water mark of 60′ 10.75″.

Busch has already qualified for the Drake Relays in both shotput and discus.
