The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles girls track and field teams debuted their 2022 squads on Monday night, with a trip to Gowrie to compete in the Richard Ryan Invitational at Southeast Valley High School. Both teams competed in the Class A division, along with Carroll, Manson-Northwest Webster, Pocahontas Area, South Central Calhoun, Southeast Valley and Carroll Kuemper.
The only event winner from the two schools was Webster City sophomore Adeline Tesdahl, who won the long jump with a mark of 15′ 2.75″, Bonnie Nohrenberg placed 6th with a jump of 13′ 10.5″. Cloe Savitski made noise in her first open race of the season, placing 2nd in the 200 meter dash in a time of 29.20 seconds, fellow Lynx sprinters Marah Range and Nalani Baukham tied for 5th in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 14.75 seconds. In the relays, Webster City placed 4th in the 4×100 and the 4×200, 3rd in the shuttle hurdle relay and sprint medley, and finished runner up in the distance medley as the Lynx finished 5th with 65 team points.
As for Eagle Grove, their highest place finisher was Justine Olson in the shotput, who placed 3rd with a throw of 35′ 1.25″. Maddie Axtell finished 4th in the 3000 meter run in a time of 14:12. In the relays, Eagle Grove finished 4th in the distance medley in a time of 5:05, and placed 6th in the 4×200 in a time of 2:03. The Eagles placed 8th in the meet, with a total of 15 points.
Next action for both Eagle Grove and Webster City will be on Thursday, when Eagle Grove hosts the Lady Eagle Relays at Eagle Grove Elementary School, beginning at 4:30.
