A Webster City man is facing charges after an incident Wednesday afternoon. Webster City Police officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 44 year old Gabriel Allen Pelz for violating a condition of release for an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Officers observed Pelz on the property at 109 Apple Avenue. When Pelz was approached by the officers, he fled into the residence and barricaded himself. After attempts to have Pelz exit the residence were unsuccessful, a negotiator from the Iowa Department of Public Safety was requested at the scene. After the negotiation attempts were unsuccessful, a K9 team from the Iowa State Patrol entered the residence and was able to locate Pel shortly after 6 Wednesday evening. Pelz was placed under arrest without further incident and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation with additional charges possible. Webster City Police were assisted in this matter by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Motor Vehicle Enforcement and paramedics from Van Diest Medical Center.
