At their recent meeting, the South Hamilton school board approved the district’s master contract for the 2022-23 school year. The contract includes $400 on the base salary. This is a 2.89 percent increase in salaries and 3.28 percent increase in the total package.. The board went on to approve the certified staff contracts for 2022-23. The contracts will be sent out this week. A presentation on the South Hamilton school budget for the 2023 fiscal year was made during the meeting Superintendent Heather Holm reported to the board that the anticipated maximum authorized budget will be at $8,782,136 with a tax rate of $13.53 per thousand taxable valuation. The public hearing for the budget is set for April 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the South Hamilton board room.
The South Hamilton board approved the low bid from TMJ Construction Services of Ames for the elementary roofing project. The bid from TMJ Construction came in at $47,287 with the work to begin later this spring. The date of Thursday,May 26 will be a snow make up day for students. It will also be the final day of the school year for students. The staff professional development day is on Friday,May 27. There was a discussion on the minimum number of students of Pre-K to continue the program and plan to enroll students this May in order to solidify program enrollment and staffing needs.
In personnel matters, the board accepted the resignations of Lindsay Gelder as 7th through 12th grade school counselor and Kayla Schaufenbuel as a middle school softball coach pending a replacement is found. Emma Johnson was hired as an elementary custodian at South Hamilton.
