Roland-Story boys season ends at hands of Pella Christian in Des Moines

The Roland-Story Norsemen boys basketball team made the trip to Des Moines on Monday night, to take on the Pella Christian Eagles in the 1st round of the Class 2A State Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena. The appearance was Roland-Story’s first since 2012, as they entered with a 22-2 record, while Pella Christian entered at 18-6.

The game started as a close contest, as Pella Christian held just a one-point advantage at the end of the first quarter, with a 14-13 lead. The Eagles were able to make a little bit more of a beach head in the 2nd quarter, holding a 29-24 advantage into the locker room. Roland-Story continued to battle evenly with the Eagles in the second half, but Pella Christian was able to keep the Norsemen at arms length and score a 69-62 win over Roland-Story. Will Bunn was the Norsemen’s leading scorer with 17 points in his final game in a Roland-Story uniform.

Roland-Story ends their season with a 22-3 record, while Pella Christian advances to face the 1-seed in Central Lyon, Rock Rapids on Thursday.
