The Roland-Story Norsemen boys basketball team begin their quest for a State Championship on Monday night, when they take on the Eagles of Pella Christian in the first round of the State Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Pella Christian enters with an 18-6 record as members of the Little Hawkeye Conference.
The Eagles dominated their substate final, holding Des Moines Christian to a season-low 32 points in a 54-32 win over the Lions to send the Eagles to their 16th state tournament in school history. Pella Christian is led by a pair of seniors in Levi Schelhaas and Eric Mulder. Schelhaas leads the team in scoring, averaging over 14 PPG, while shooting 34% from three. Mulder is 2nd on the team in scoring, averaging over 11 PPG and a team-high 9.1 RPG. The Eagles will have to find a way to slow down the 1-2 punch of Isaiah Naylor and Jonovan Wilkinson for Roland-Story.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:15 PM at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
