Roland-Story girls season ends against West Lyon at the Well

The Roland-Story Norsemen girls basketball team began their quest for a state championship on Monday night as they faced off the West Lyon Wildcats in the first round of the girls state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. West Lyon entered as the 2-seed, with a 23-1 record.

The first half was a tight battle, with West Lyon outscoring Roland-Story 11-10 in the each of the first 2 quarters, to hold a slight 22-20 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half, the Wildcats defense would become nearly immovable, as West Lyon absolutely shut down Roland-Story, holding the Norsemen to just three 2nd half points as West Lyon picked up a 38-23 win over the Norsemen. Reagan Barkema led the Norsemen with 12 points in the final game of her storied high school career.

Roland-Story concludes their season at 19-6, while West Lyon advances to face the winner of Ballard and Center Point-Urbana on Thursday.
