Roland-Story girls overcome West Marshall to advance to 3rd state tournament in 4 years

The Roland-Story Norsemen girls basketball team had one final hurdle to overcome in their quest to advancing to their 3rd state tournament in 4 years. Standing in their way was the team that had beaten them for a conference title: the West Marshall Trojans.

The Norsemen came out of the gates swinging, and took a 15-10 lead after the first quarter. The Norsemen would not relent in the 2nd quarter as they extended their lead to 13 at halftime, with the score at 33-20. The 3rd quarter saw the Norsemen put together a championship caliber run, outscoring the Trojans 21-11 in the period to lead 54-31. Hopes of a comeback were slim for West Marshall, as Roland-Story would clamp down in the 4th quarter for a 63-35 win.

Roland-Story advanced to their 3rd state tournament in 4 years with the win, and will face the West Lyon Wildcats in the first round of the State Tournament on Monday, February 28th at 8:30 PM from Wells Fargo Arena.
