The South Hamilton girls basketball team hit the hardwood on Tuesday night, for their Class 2A, Region 3 playoff opener against the Bulldogs of Lake Mills. Lake Mills came into Tuesday’s playoff game with an 8-13 record as members of the Top of Iowa Conference, Western Division.
The game got out to a fast start, with the score knotted at 8 early in the first quarter, before hot South Hamilton shooting began making a difference in margin. The Hawks led 22-10 after one, and South Hamilton’s defense made sure that lead got extended, as they went into the break with a 35-16 lead. The 3rd quarter saw each side trade buckets, but South Hamilton was able to extend its lead to 51-30, before sealing a 59-42 victory. Hallee Feaker finished with 20 points for the Hawks, including 4, three-pointers, Ashlyn Erickson finished with 15 as well.
South Hamilton advances to face West Fork on Friday night in Sheffield in the Class 2A, Region 3 semifinal. Lake Mills ends their season at 8-14.
