The Eagle Grove Eagles girls basketball team hit the road east on Tuesday night, for their Class 2A, Region 3 quarterfinal against defending Class 2A State Champion Dike-New Hartford. The Wolverines entered Tuesday’s contest 19-2 and ranked #1 in the final Class 2A rankings from the IGHSAU.
Dike-New Hartford wasted little time in dismantling the Eagles, with the Wolverines holding a 36-2 lead after the first quarter. That lead would balloon to 52-4 by halftime. The Wolverines began calling the dogs off early in the 2nd half, but still outscored the Eagles 25-4 in the 2nd half, en route to a 77-8 rout of the Eagles. The Wolverines saw 4 players score in double figures on the night.
Eagle Grove’s season comes to an end as they finish with a 3-19 record, Dike-New Hartford advances to face Belmond-Klemme on Friday night.
