The South Hamilton girls basketball team will open postseason play on Tuesday night, as they host the Bulldogs of Lake Mills in their Class 2A, Region 3 opener. The Bulldogs enter Tuesday with a record of 8-13 as members of the Top of Iowa Conference, Western Division.
The Bulldogs enter following a 7th place finish in the conference, and looking to pull an upset over the Hawks on Tuesday. Lake Mills is just a little more than a week removed for a senior night upset of Forest City, although their regular season ended with a 70-12 loss to North Union. The Bulldogs star this season has been sophomore Taylor Vanek, who leads the team in scoring with 11 PPG, while being 2nd in rebounding at 4.3 RPG, and 1st in assists, averaging 3.6 APG. Junior Josie Helgeson enters averaging just over 7 PPG, and has the ability to knock down threes consistently, shooting just over 32% from behind-the-arc.
Tipoff is slated for 7 PM at South Hamilton High School in Jewell.
