The Eagle Grove Eagles boys basketball team made the long trek south and west on Monday night, to open Class 2A, District 5 playoff action against the Knights of Carroll Kuemper. Kuemper entered Monday night with an 11-10 record as members of the Hawkeye 10 Conference.
The Knights started fast and furious, as they jumped all over Eagle Grove in the first quarter with a 25-12 lead after one. The 2nd quarter was nearly identical to the first, with the Knights more than doubling up on the Eagles again, and took a commanding 51-23 halftime lead. Kuemper only eased off the gas a little in the 2nd half, scoring 19 points each in the final two quarters as the Knights ran away with an 89-44 win. Kuemper senior Isaac Evans led all scorers with 19 points, as well as hauling in 11 rebounds.
Eagle Grove’s season comes to an end at 2-20, while Carroll Kuemper advances to face South Central Calhoun on Thursday night.
