The Webster City Lynx wrestling team will continue their postseason on Tuesday night, as they travel north to Osage to compete in their Class 2A Regional dual. The Lynx will face West Marshall to begin the night, and with a win, will face the 2nd-ranked Green Devils with a chance to advance to the State Dual Tournament, on the eve of the Traditional State Tournament.
The Lynx face a West Marshall team that won it’s sectional by just a half point over South Tama County. The Trojans were runners-up in the Heart of Iowa Conference meet to a Roland-Story team that Webster City dominated in the Norsemen Duals a couple weekends earlier. The Trojans top wrestler is Shane Hanford at 106 pounds, who finished 2nd in sectionals behind Grinnell’s Dylan Heater, who is #12 in Class 2A. Austin Pfantz was West Marshall’s lone sectional champion at 170 pounds.
With a win, the Lynx would face off with the Green Devils of Osage. Osage is ranked #2 in the IA Wrestler Class 2A Traditional Rankings, while spending most of the season at #2 in the IWCOA Dual Team Rankings, behind West Delaware. The Green Devils top-rated wrestler is Nick Fox at 170 pounds, where he is ranked #1. Fox moved down to 160 for the traditional postseason, but could bounce back up to 170 for the dual tournament. Osage also boasts a pair of wrestlers who are ranked #2 at 126 and 152 in Tucker Stangel and Chase Thomas, as well as undefeated Anders Kittelson, who is ranked #4 at 132.
Action is slated to get underway at 6 PM on Tuesday Night at Osage High School.
