The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys wrestling teams made the long trek north and west on Saturday to compete in their Class 2A sectional at Estherville-Lincoln Central. Other teams at the sectional included the host Midgets, Algona, Okoboji and Pocahontas Area.
The Lynx had as successful day as Chad Hisler and company could have hoped for, as Webster City claimed 7 finalists, and all 7 finalists became sectional champions. Sectional Champions included Carson Doolittle, Cam Phextoumphone, Austin Mason, Brady Jessen, Evan Estlund, CJ Hisler and Jaxon Cherry. Webster City had one third-place finisher in Jordan Vankham at 152, three 4th place finishers in Addison Scott at 106, Cole Reiling at 132, and Dylan Burnette-Bingham, and three 5th place finishers in Tristan Mason, Luke Estlund and Landon Griffin.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows also saw a successful day, as the Cowboys qualified 6 wrestlers into Saturday’s district tournament. The Cowboys claimed two sectional champions in Ethan Traub at 126 and Garrett Seaba at 152. Four CGD wrestler’s placed 2nd and qualified for districts in Cale Kirsetin at 145, Mack Seaba at 170, Erick Perez at 195 and Daniel Chavez at 285.
Webster City will have another chance to compete as a team on Tuesday, when they will face West Marshall at Osage High School in Regional dual action, the winner will face Osage.
The Class 2A, District 7 tournament will begin at 11 AM on Saturday at Webster City High School.
