South Hamilton basketball swept by West Marshall on Friday

The South Hamilton Hawks returned to hardwood on Friday night, for a senior night showdown with the Trojans of West Marshall. The West Marshall girls were 18-2 and ranked #9 in Class 3A, while the West Marshall boys were 6-14.

South Hamilton looked to pull their 2nd upset of the Trojan girls on the season, but West Marshall had other plans, as they led 7-2 after the first. The Hawks fought back in the 2nd, as they only trailed 18-14 at halftime. It remained a tight battle in the 2nd half, as late free throws salted away a 44-37 for West Marshall. Trojan star Katy Reyerson finished with 24 points on the night, with 9-of-10 shooting.

The boys game followed with Hawk boys looking for a season-sweep of the Trojans. The West Marshall boys also made sure their other plans were seen fit, as they took a 15-10 lead after the first, extended to 27-15 at halftime. The Trojan offense put their foot on the gas in the 2nd half, as they ran away with a 63-43 victory. Joey Tollefson and Kinnick Christensen finished with 18 a piece for West Marshall.

South Hamilton returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Monroe to take on the PCM Mustangs.
