The Eagle Grove basketball teams returned to the hardwood on Friday night, as they made the long trip north to face off with the Bison of North Iowa, Buffalo Center in Top of Iowa play. The North Iowa girls entered 1-19 on the season, while the North Iowa boys entered 10-9.
Eagle Grove’s girls were looking for a season-sweep of the Bison, but the Bison were ready for the Eagles a 2nd time around. North Iowa led 7-4 after one, and only 17-15 at halftime. However, the Bison offense came alive in the 3rd quarter, while Eagle Grove only managed 5 points. The frame would come to be the difference maker, as North Iowa took home a 43-31 win over the Eagles. North Iowa senior Leah Kramersmeier led the way with 15 points for the Eagles.
The boys game followed with North Iowa looking to secure a season sweep of the Eagles, and managed to do just that. North Iowa led 14-4 after the first, extended it to 28-16 by halftime. The 2nd half saw the Bison turn up in the intensity on both ends of the floor, outscoring the Eagles 35-14 and picking up a 63-30 win. Logan and Riley Sabin combined for 31 points in the Bison’s win.
Eagle Grove returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Britt to face off with the Eagles of West Hancock.
