Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball hosts Humboldt on Friday night

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball teams return to action on Friday night, when they host conference rival Humboldt at CGD High School. The Humboldt girls enter with a record of 10-9, while the Humboldt boys enter with a record of 15-1 and ranked #3 in Class 3A.

The girls game kicks off with a Clarion-Goldfield-Dows team that has been vastly improving over the last 2 weeks, coming close many times to pulling out tough victories, but falling short. Freshman guard Morgan Mann leads the Wildcats with 15.5 PPG and is shooting over 50% from the field and 40% from three-point range. Senior Alexis Hansen is also averaging in double figures, with just over 10 PPG, while leading the team in assists with just over 3 per contest.

The boys game follows, in perhaps, the game of the year in the North Central Conference. Humboldt is searching for their first conference title since 2007, while Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is searching for their first ever conference championship. The Wildcats are led by junior Will Orness, who is averaging over 14 PPG, senior guard Caden Matson is averaging 13 PPG. Humboldt will be met by a Cowboys defense that has only allowed 40.8 PPG in their last 5 contests.

Tipoff is slated for 6:15 PM at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School in Clarion.
