The Webster City wrestling teams made the short trek south on Highway 69 to compete in the Roland-Story Norsemen Duals in Story City. The Lynx were joined by the host Norsemen, Central Decatur, Saydel, OA-BCIG and Hampton-Dumont-CAL.
The Lynx took home 4 wins in the duals tournament, winning all 4 by a combined score of 269-38. The Lynx’s dual against Central Decatur showcased 9 forfeits, all in favor of the Lynx. Cam Phetxoumphone picked up a fall over Central Decatur’s Cord Hamilton, while the Lynx lost their 3 other matches in a 66-10 win for Webster City.
Webster City then dominated the Heart of Iowa Conference Champions in Roland-Story, with the Norsemen winning only 3 matches over the Lynx in the dual. Cam Phextoumphone, Adison Scott, Brady Jessen, Dylan Burnette-Bingham, CJ Hisler and Jaxon Cherry all picked up falls in the 63-13 win.
The Lynx then battled OA-BCIG in a dual that saw the Falcons only pick up wins at 106 and 138 as Webster City scored a 66-9 win. Webster City then blew out Saydel, in a dual that saw the Eagles win the first match, and the Lynx take the final 13. 10 forfeits that favored the Lynx gave Webster City a 74-6 win over Saydel.
The final dual of the day pitted Webster City against the team they fell by one-point to in the NCC Tournament, Hampton-Dumont-CAL. Webster City held a 15-12 lead after the first 5 weights thanks to pins from Cam Phetxoumphone and Carson Doolittle, and a decision from Tristan Mason. The Bulldogs would win 5 of the next 6 matches to take a 34-21 lead. CJ Hisler and Jaxon Cherry would pick up falls to bring the score to 34-32 headed into the final match. However, Carter Heilskov got the best of Landon Griffin and picked up a fall in 3:29, to give the Bulldogs a 40-33 win.
Webster City returns to action on Saturday, when they will compete in Class 2A, Sectional 13 at Estherville-Lincoln Central, with the host Midgets, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Okoboji/HMS, Pocahontas Area and Algona.
