The Webster City girls return to action on Friday night, when they host the Bulldogs of Algona in North Central Conference action. The Algona girls enter with a 6-10 record, and 5-4 in North Central Conference play.
Algona enters looking to get their conference record higher above .500 with a win against a Webster City team that has had a very successful January, after a rough December. Algona is led by junior A’Lailah Perry, ho is averaging 7.5 PPG and just over 7 RPG, both numbers lead the team. Freshman Lauren McLaughlin has become the main outside scoring threat for the Bulldogs, shooting over 37% from behind-the-arc.
On Saturday, the Webster City boys return to the hardwood as they host the Go-Hawks of Waverly-Shell Rock at Webster City High. The Go-Hawks enter with a 7-5 record, as members of the Northeast Iowa Conference.
Webster City looks to build off their close win over Hampton-Dumont-CAL against a Waverly-Shell Rock team, that has developed something of a rivalry with Webster City across their athletics teams. The Go-Hawks are led by senior Keaton Farmer, who leads the team in points and rebounds with 14.1 PPG and 5 RPG. Sophomore Cole Marsh has also been scoring at a high-clip, averaging 13.8 PPG.
