The South Hamilton Hawks wrestling squad migrated south to Nevada on Friday night, to compete at the Heart of Iowa wrestling tournament at Nevada High. The Hawks were joined by the host Cubs, and the other 6 schools that make up the Heart of Iowa Conference.
Two Hawks were crowned conference champions on Friday night, as Keyton Rembsurg steamrolled his way through the field at 126 to a conference title. Remsburg picked up falls in the quarterfinals and semifinals, before a tech fall of Greene County’s Dakota Mobley in the title match. Brent Greenfield claimed his first conference title, as the senior mowed down the field at 182, winning all 3 matches by fall on Friday night.
Graham Peters was the Hawks lone runner-up, falling to Perry’s Kevin Colin in the 220 pound-final via pin. Landon Stolee placed 3rd for the Hawks at 195, finishing the day 2-1, while Owen Duns and Austin Busch placed 4th at 170 and 285 respectively. Holden Klein placed 5th at 106 for South Hamilton, as the Hawks placed 5th at the meet with a total of 109.5 points. Roland-Story was crowned conference champions with 210 points.
South Hamilton wrestling returns to action on Tuesday, as they compete in a quadrangular with Iowa Falls-Alden, East Marshall/GMG and Baxter.
