The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling team made the trek west on Saturday, to compete at the Alta-Aurelia duals in Aurelia. Teams competing included the host Warriors, the Orabs of Sheldon-South O’Brien, Manson-Northwest Webster and West Monona-Whiting.
The Eagles started the day with the host Warriors, as they picked up a 51-24 win. Isaac Olson, Mack Morgan, Dustin Dawson and Jack Mendoza all picked up falls for the Eagles win the win. Eagle Grove also picked up 4 wins via forfeit as well. The Eagles then followed up with a 48-35 win over Manson-Northwest Webster, where they picked up falls from Dustin Dawson and Damon Richter. In all, 9 of the 14 weights resulted in forfeit wins in the dual.
Eagle Grove picked up their 3rd win of the day over Sheldon/South O’Brien by a score of 50-18. The Eagles picked up falls from Jack Mendoza, Isaac Olson, Damon Richter, Connor Christopher and Korey Anderson en route to the win. The Eagles final dual came against West Monona-Whiting, where they fell 54-15. Eagle Grove’s only wins came courtesy of a forfeit at 106, a Jack Mendoza decision at 195, and an Isaac Olson fall at 220.
The Eagles return to the mats on Saturday, when they compete at the Top of Iowa Conference Tournament at Saint Ansgar.
