Webster City basketball travels to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Friday

Two KQ-area teams will collide on Friday night as the Webster City Lynx make the short trip north to faceoff with the Cowboys and Cowgirls of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. The girls game pits 3-10 Webster City with 6-8 CGD, while the boys game pits 7-4 Webster City against 11-1 CGD.

The girls game showcases two teams that have found their rhythm as of late, Webster City has lost their last two, but prior had won 3 out of their 4 previous games. CGD has won two games in a row following snapping an 8-game losing skid. Lexie Lane continues to star for the Cowgirls, putting 27 and 24 points in her previous two games respectively. Livia Kasch has led the Lynx in both ends of the floor, leading the team in scoring, rebounding and is tied for 2nd on the team in steals.

The boys game pits two teams that are near the top of the NCC standings in 2022. Both teams share recent losses to Humboldt, but that is the only blemish on the Cowboys record. The 1-2 punch of Jaxon Carpenter and Connor State have combined for nearly 30 PPG this season, with both players shooting north of 57% from the field. Webster City has been led by the emergence of junior Jamie Grossoehme, who is averaging over 15 PPG and shooting an eye-popping 56.5% from behind-the-arc. Ty McKinney has surged as of late, averaging 12.5 PPG.

Tipoff is slated for 6:15 PM from Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School in Clarion.
