The South Hamilton Hawks wrestling team made the trip south on Tuesday night to compete in a quadrangular at Perry High School. Teams competing included the host Bluejays, fellow conference foes in the Nevada Cubs, and the Ogden Bulldogs from the West Central Activities Conference.
The Hawks got things started with the host Bluejays, where Holden Klein kicked things off with a major decision at 106, before Perry would take 7 of the next 8 matches, to build a 45-10 lead. The Hawks would pick up consecutive 6-point wins, before the Bluejays closed out with back-to-back falls to pick up a 57-22 win.
South Hamilton then faced off with their conferences foes in the Nevada Cubs, where Nevada picked up 6-point wins in the first two matches. Both sides would split the next 4 matches, with the Cubs holding a 24-12 lead after 6 matches. In total, 6 forfeits were had in the dual, before South Hamilton picked up 3 straight falls at their heavier weights to tie the dual at 36. Camdan Vincent would pickup the decisive blow, pinning Austin Busch in less than a minute to give Nevada a 42-36 win.
The Hawks closed with a dual against the Ogden Bulldogs, where Ogden raced out to an 18-0 lead after 3 weights, before Keyton Remsburg picked up a tech fall at 126 to make the score 18-5. Ogden would then rip off six consecutive, 6 point decision, to take a 54-29 lead. The Hawks would take the final 4 weights off of three forfeits, and a Brent Greenfield pin of Aiden Kathman at 195, as Ogden picked up a 54-29 win.
South Hamilton returns to action on Friday, when they will compete at the Heart of Iowa Conference Tournament at Nevada High School.
