The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball teams returned to action on Monday night, when they hosted their county rivals and former NCC rival Eagle Grove. The Eagle Grove girls entered with a 2-11 record, while the Eagle Grove boys entered with a 1-13 record.
The night kicked off with the girls, as the Cowgirls looked to snap an 8-game losing streak after starting 4-0. The Eagle girls proved to be the perfect remedy as CGD jumped out to a 15-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, and led 29-16 at the break. The Cowgirls would assert dominance with a 24-1 margin in the 3rd quarter, en route to a 61-24 win over the Eagles.
The boys followed with a matchup between a CGD team that had just suffered their 1st loss of the season to Humboldt on Thursday, and an Eagle Grove team looking to get their 2nd win on the season. The Cowboys wasted little time getting back on a winning track, leading 20-9 after one quarter and continuously extending their lead all the way to a 74-32 win. Aidan Harrington and Coady Olson led the Cowboys with 13 points a piece.
Next action for CGD will be on Tuesday when they travel to Fort Dodge, St. Edmonds. Eagle Grove will return to action on Tuesday as well, this time against fellow county rival Belmond-Klemme.
