The Eagle Grove basketball teams return to action on Thursday night, when they face off with the Golden Bears of Algona Bishop Garrigan in a makeup of a game that was originally scheduled for December 10th. The Bishop Garrigan girls enter with a 10-3 record and ranked #2 in Class 1A, while the Bishop Garrigan boys enter with a 2-10 record.
The girls game kicks things off with a stout Bishop Garrigan team led by Audi Crooks, a consensus top-100 recruit in the country in women’s basketball. Crooks enters averaging just over 22 PPG and shooting just over 70% from the field. Junior Molly Joyce also plays a large role in the Golden Bears offense, averaging nearly 18 PPG and leads the team in assists with 4.5 APG.
The boys game follows with two teams who have struggled in conference play. Bishop Garrigan is led in scoring by senior Jacob Leerar, who is averaging 9.3 PPG and shooting 46% from the field. Leerar also averages 6.3 RPG, which is 2nd on the Golden Bears. Eagle Grove continues to follow the strong play of Drake Canavan and Jordan Morris.
