The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball teams hit the road for the 2nd time this week, as they travel west on Highway 3 to face off with the Humboldt Wildcats. The Humboldt girls enter with a record of 7-6. while the Humboldt boys enter with a record of 10-0 and are ranked #4 in Class 3A.
The girls game kicks off with a Cowgirl team that is trying to snap a 7-game losing streak following a 4-0 start to the season. Humboldt will prove a worthy foe as the Wildcats are led by freshman Morgan Mann, who is averaging nearly 16 PPG and shooting near 50% from behind-the-arc. Senior Alexis Hansen has also stepped into a larger scoring role, averaging 11.3 PPG.
The boys game follows with the only matchup of undefeated teams in the state on Thursday night, as the the winner takes over sole possession of first place in the North Central Conference. Humboldt has been led by junior Will Orness, who is averaging just over 15.5 PPG on the season, while senior Caden Matson is shooting 43.5% from behind-the-arc. The Wildcats have also greatly benefited from the return of senior center Ben Kuehnast.
Tipoff is slated for 6:15 PM for Humboldt High School.
