The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls basketball team hit the road on Monday night for a non-conference showdown against the Warhawks of West Fork, Sheffield. West Fork entered Monday with an 8-3 record on the season, sitting in 3rd in the Top of Iowa East standings.
The Warhawks got after the Cowgirls from the start, holding a 13-2 lead at the end of the 1st before blowing the doors open with a 34-9 halftime lead. West Fork continued to use stifling defense and efficient offense to pickup a 57-24 win over CGD.
The Cowgirls will have to regroup quickly as they hit the road again Tuesday night to face the Indians of Pocahontas Area. The Indians are 6-4, and led by the junior trio of Carly Janssen, Abby Oberhelman and Akaysa Duitscher. The trio is averaging a combined 41.8 PPG on the season. Oberhelman also leads the team in rebounds, averaging just over 10 per game, as she averages a double-double.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys team will also be in action against Pocahontas Area after falling out of the AP Poll despite remaining undefeated. The Indians enter at 3-6 and are lead by senior Gavin Ehn, who is averaging nearly 20 PPG and also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.5 RPG.
