The Webster City wrestling team returned to tournament action on Saturday, as they traveled to Marshalltown to compete in the Allie Morrison Duals at the Marshalltown Roundhouse. The Lynx were joined by the host Bobcats, Cedar Falls and Johnston.
The Lynx began their day with a dual against the Tigers of Cedar Falls, where the two squads were knotted at 12 after 4 weights, with each side trading pins. The Lynx then took over at the heavyweight spots, getting falls from CJ Hisler and Jaxon Cherry, and a decision from Landon Griffin, to put Webster City up 27-12. Following falls from Carson Doolittle and Cam Phetxoumphone, Cedar Falls reeled off 3 straight wins before Austin Mason sealed a 45-31 win for the Lynx.
The Johnston Dragons arose next, as the dual started with Johnston reeling off 4 straight wins to go up 18-0, before Jaxon Cherry and Landon Griffin picked up wins to cut it to 18-12. Doolittle and Phetxoumphone picked up 6-point victories each, but falls from Johnston overcame the decision wins from Webster City en route to a 36-33 win.
The final dual of the day pitted the Lynx against the host Bobcats, where Webster City took 3 of the first 4 weights, beginning at 170 pounds. Marshalltown got wins at 285 and 106, before the Doolittle-Phetxoumphone duo gave 11 more points to the Lynx. Marshalltown picked up wins at 126 and 132, before Webster City closed out the match winning 3 of the final 4 matches for a 44-26 win over Marshalltown.
Webster City returns to action on Thursday, when they host Humboldt and Iowa Falls-Alden in a triangular.
