Eagle Grove basketball hosts North Iowa on Friday

The Eagle Grove basketball teams play in their 3rd game of the first week of 2022, as they host the Bison of North Iowa, Buffalo Center on Friday night. The North Iowa girls enter with a 1-10 record, while the North Iowa boys hold a 4-5 record.

The girls game pits an Eagle Grove team that is still looking for their first win of the season, against a North Iowa team who got their only win of the season against Rockford, by a final of 51-34. The Bison are led sophomore Miriam Beenken, who is averaging over 12 points and 13.5 rebounds per game on the season. Eagle Grove is looking for someone to step up as a secondary scorer alongside Nadia Kaiser.

The boys games brings a North Iowa team that is looking to get back to .500 on the season against an Eagle Grove team that has been close many times in the 2021-22 season. Riley Sabin leads North Iowa, as the senior averages 15 points and nearly 11 rebounds per game. Noah Hofmann and Logan Sabin also average double figures for the Bison. Drake Canavan enters averaging 12 PPG, while Jordan Morris PPG total has risen to 9.

The girls tipoff at 6 PM at Eagle Grove Elementary School, the boys will follow.
