The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling team is back in action tonight as they host the Algona Bulldogs in a dual between two teams near the top of the North Central Conference standings. The Cowboys currently have 3 wrestlers ranked, while the Bulldogs boast 4 ranked wrestlers.
The lightweight advantages, on paper, go to Algona, as Isaac Wilson, Jacob Zabka and Tate Slagle are all ranked at 106 pounds, 113 pounds and 126 pounds respectively. Wilson holds a 21-3 record, Zabka has a 17-3 record, while Slagle holds a 24-2 mark. Senior Brandon Harris is also ranked at #12 in the 152 pound class, holding a 23-4 record. Fellow senior Hayden Thompson also hold a 17-4 record.
The heavier weights, however, appear to side with CGD. While the Cowboys have Ethan Traub at 120 pounds, ranked 6th in 2A, they also have ranked wreslters at 160, with Class 2A #4 Garrett Seaba, and at 220 with Class 2A #6 Daniel Chavez.
The dual is slated to begin at 7:30 at CGD High School in Clarion.
