Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball travels to Algona for doubleheader

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball teams are back on the road Tuesday night, to face off with the Algona Bulldogs in North Central Conference play. The Algona girls currently sit at 2-5, while the Algona boys currently sit at 3-4.

The girls game features a reeling CGD squad, which has lost their last 3 games after a 4-0 start, against an Algona team that was blown out by crosstown rival Bishop Garrigan on Saturday, 71-28. Freshman Lauren McLaughlin leads the team in scoring, averaging 7.3 PPG, while A’Lailah Perry averages just under 7 PPG. Lexie Lane leads the Cowgirls in scoring with 17.4 PPG.

The boys then take the floor, as the Cowboys entered the AP rankings for the first time this season on Monday, tied for 9th with Camanche. Algona is led in scoring by forward Tyler Manske, who averages nearly 17 points per contest, and leads the team in rebounding as well. Senior guard Garrett Goche also averages double figures and leads the team in assists. Jaxon Carpenter currently leads the conference in scoring, with 18 points per contest.

Tipoff is slated for 6 PM at Algona High School.
