CGD basketball splits doubleheader with Belmond-Klemme

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball teams took the court once again on Thursday night, as they welcomed in county rival Belmond-Klemme to CGD High School. The Bronco girls entered with a record of 3-2, while the boys continue to search for their first win at 0-5.

The girls game saw Belmond-Klemme get the better of their Wright County rivals, as the Broncos pulled out a 51-38 win over the Cowgirls. After starting the season 4-0, the CGD girls have dropped back-to-back games to Clear Lake and Belmond-Klemme.

CGD’s boys teams then took the task of keeping their momentum high, following there upset win over 3A #2 Clear Lake on Tuesday. Jason Berning’s Cowboys had no trouble with flat start’s and cruised to a 63-17 win over the winless Broncos. Jaxon Carpenter added his 2nd consecutive 20-point game, while Coady Olson and Connor State were also in double figures.

The Cowboys return to action tonight, as they host the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden, beginning at 6 PM
