South Hamilton returns to the basketball court on Tuesday night as they host the Nevada Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action. The Nevada girls enter with a record of 3-3, while the Nevada boys enter with a record of 3-2.
The girls tip things off at 6 PM, and Mark Henderson’s Hawks are looking to finally conquer an old bully. Nevada has won the last 18 meetings in a row, dating back to January of 2012. South Hamilton’s last win in the series came in December of 2011. The Cubs are led by senior Shelbi Hazlitt, who is averaging nearly 15 PPG and shooting 42.4% from the field. Fellow senior Madelynn Dunham is also averaging nearly 10 PPG and shooting well over 50% from the field.
The boys will follow, as Matthew Juber’s squad looks to bounce back following a tough loss to Saydel on Friday night. The Cubs have a nucleus of four, double-digit scorers including Jacob Khounsourath, James Edwards, Colin Memmer and Carson Rhodes. Rhodes also nearly averages 10 rebounds per contest as well. The Cubs are entering off a 75-44 win over West Marshall.
