The South Hamilton basketball teams looked to move their conference records to 2-0 across the board on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Rams of Greene County at Jim Marsh Court. The Rams girls came in with a 1-1 record, while the Rams boys entered with an 0-2 record.
Mark Henderson’s girls opened the night up with a exclamation point, dominating the Rams by a final score of 55-18. Defense was the constant throughout the night for the Hawks, leading 16-3 after the 1st quarter and 38-6 at halftime, as South Hamilton’s offense continued to execute at a high-level. The 2nd half saw South Hamilton slow their offense, but continue their stifling defense until the final buzzer. Hallee Feaker led all scorers with 13 points, while Makenna Galetich finished with 11. Emma Hoyle finished with 7 points for Greene County.
The boys then took center stage as Greene County was in search for their 1st win of the season, as South Hamilton looked to move to 2-0 in the Heart of Iowa. The night was dominated by the Rams’ Richard Daugherty, who scored a game-high 24 points, including 4, three-pointers en route to a 71-43 win. Nic Flaugh led all South Hamilton scorers with 11 points.
Next action for the Hawks will be on Friday night, when they host the Saydel Eagles at South Hamilton High School in Jewell.
