The Webster City Lynx wrestling team competed at the Dallas Center-Grimes Invitational on Saturday, in the first tournament action of the year for Chad Hisler’s Lynx. The Lynx placed 4th in the meet scoring 153.5 points, placing behind Ankeny Centennial, Dallas Center-Grimes and Creston/Orient-Macksburg.
The Lynx claimed 2 individual champions on Saturday, as Class 2A #3 Carson Doolittle took home the 113-pound title, pinning Jacob Alexander of ADM, who is ranked #4 at 106 pounds, in less than a minute. At 120 pounds, two-time defending state champion Cam Phetxoumphone dominated yet again, pinning Lincoln Keeler of Creston/Orient-Macksburg, who is ranked 11th at 113 pounds, in just under a minute and a half in the title match.
Webster City also scored a 3rd place finish from sophomore Jaxon Cherry, who pinned Oskaloosa’s Warren Feudner in the 3rd place match. Austin Mason also placed 3rd in the tournament at 152 pounds, defeating Ankeny Centennial’s Drew Dunn in a 10-4 decision. Dylan Burnette placed 4th at 195 pounds, while CJ Hisler continues to heal from a leg injury.
Evan Estlund place 5th at 170 pounds, as did Tristan Mason at 126 pounds. Brady Jessen also placed 6th at 160 pounds. The Lynx saw 7th place finishes from Landon Griffin at 285 pounds, Jordan Vankham at 145 pounds, Luke Estlund at 138 pounds and Addison Scott at 113 pounds as well.
