The South Hamilton Hawks basketball teams hit the road once again on Thursday night, as they made the trip to Iowa Falls to take on the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden. The South Hamilton girls entered at 1-1 and the South Hamilton boys entered at 0-1.
The South Hamilton girls jumped out to a 20-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, and never looked back, even as the Cadets brought it to an 8 point game at halftime. The Hawks defense stiffened, allowing only 14 points in the 2nd half, en route to a 51-34 win.
The Hawks boys team then took the stage against IF-A following their season-opening loss to South Central Calhoun on Tuesday. For the second game in a row, South Hamilton’s offense struggled to consistently execute offensively, as they only scored 7 points in the 1st quarter and 9 points in the 3rd quarter. IF-A rode the play of Blake Janssen, who finished with 23 points, all the way to a 55-45 win.
Next action for the South Hamilton Hawks will be tonight, as they face off with the Perry Bluejays at South Hamilton High School in Jewell. The girls will tip off at 6 PM, with the boys to follow.
